Why Success Alone Stops Feeling Enough

I’m Salini Sankar (Sal) Nellikkayil, an AI & Workforce Transformation Leader, Certified Ikigai Coach, builder, and lifelong learner. After 20+ years helping organizations solve complex people, workforce and operations challenges, I’ve learned a successful life isn’t just about how far you go. It’s about knowing why you’re going there.
Dallas‑Fort Worth, Texas · 20+ years in workforce & operations transformationA little something I built to make everyday life easier, one shared place for the people, plans and things that matter.
SalHub brings calendars, tasks, lists and people together so everyday life feels a little less scattered.
I was born in a small village in Kerala, India, and grew up in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. I didn’t grow up imagining a polished corporate career in the United States. My path was much less certain than that.
I returned to Kerala for higher education, earning a BBA in Computer Science and then two master’s degrees in Personnel Management and Management Science with a focus on Finance. That unusual combination of people, technology and numbers became the foundation for much of what followed.
My career began in India across HR, resource management and operations. I moved into IT services and consulting, eventually building a long career at Deloitte across India and the United States. Moving countries, building a career, adapting to new environments and creating a life and family far from where I started was not always easy.
But every difficult chapter taught me something: you don’t need to know the entire path to take the next step. You need to keep building the capability, courage and clarity to take it.
Today, I live in Dallas‑Fort Worth and work at the intersection of people, technology, operations and AI. LifeBySal is the other side of that journey: purpose, career, family, ambition, reinvention, learning and the choices that make a life meaningful.
I created LifeBySal because I believe the lessons we learn building a career can help us build a better life. And the lessons we learn from life can make us better leaders.
My specialty has always been building what doesn’t exist yet: setting up Resource Management teams from the ground up, creating scalable operating models and governance, and leading large RM organizations through growth and transformation.
At Deloitte, I led the Deloitte Digital India Resource Management team supporting 5,000+ employees. My experience spans workforce planning, capacity modeling, demand forecasting, resource optimization, consulting operations and transformation at scale. I also led M&A integration and operational initiatives, helping organizations bring people, processes and technology together at scale.
Technology has been a consistent thread: SAP MRM for global workforce management, Anaplan for capacity and scenario planning, workforce automation powered by RPA, and Resource Management and workforce planning solutions powered by AI.
I use Ikigai as one of the frameworks that helps me think about meaningful work and a meaningful life. It is less about finding one perfect answer and more about noticing patterns that can guide better decisions.
What do you love? What gives you energy, curiosity and meaning?
What are you good at? What strengths, experiences and capabilities do you bring?
What does the world need? Where can your contribution create value?
What can you be paid for? Where can purpose and economic reality meet?
The goal isn’t one perfect answer. It is a clearer direction for what comes next.
A guided reflection workbook built around four practical questions: what you love, what you are good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for.
Use it to spot patterns, clarify what matters, and identify one practical next move.
